Financial Aid

We try very hard to keep Family Week camp affordable. BACDS underwrites us by about $250 per camper and the Family Week committee does significant additional fundraising. If you have the means to help with a donation so that families that need the help can afford it, please consider a tax-deductible direct donation. Thank you.

If you need further financial assistance for camp, consider applying for a work-trade position or scholarship.

Work Trade

Work Trade positions are available for adults and teens to earn a discount by helping with camp set-up, maintenance, and tear-down.

If you are Work Trade, you commit to:

  • Arriving at camp by 10:30 AM on the first day (Sunday) to set-up camp
  • Working 1–2 hours each day of camp.
  • Stay until 11:30 AM on the last day of camp (Saturday) to pack up

In return you will receive a discount of $250 (adult) or $200 (teen) off your registration fee.

Specialized work-trade arrangements may also be available with the approval of camp management. Contact the managers (familyweek@bacds.org) for details.

Jude Biggs Scholarship

The Bay Area Country Dance Society offers the Jude Biggs Scholarship to aspiring dance musicians so they can improve their skills playing for community dance. A typical Jude Biggs recipient has considerable mastery of an instrument and has shown at least an interest in playing for dances, but is not yet at the skill level of professional staff. As a Jude Biggs recipient, you’ll have opportunities to work with our superb musical staff and play for dancers in several different types of community dance.

This scholarship covers the full registration fee. It sometimes may be split between two campers, in which case it would cover half the fee.

To Apply

Contact Family Week management (familyweek@bacds.org) to apply or for more information. Be prepared to explain why you’re a good candidate for this scholarship. Applications must be submitted before May 1, 2024.
