San Francisco English moves to new venue

It's easy to get all booked up and stressed out in December, but we hope to see you Saturday night, December 10, 2016 from 7:30 to 10:00 PM when we start dancing at our new location. It's a lovely old church with a great floor. Sharon Green will be calling with music by Susan Worland, and Bill and Susan Jensen. It doesn't get better than that! St. John's Presbyterian Church, 25 Lake Street (at Arguello Boulevard), San Francisco, CA. This is a fragrance-free event. Also, to preserve the floor in the 110 year old building, kindly bring soft-sole, non-marking shoes to change into.

San Francisco Folk Music Club's New Years camp: 5 days of Contra, English, Irish, Swing, Rock & Roll and whatever else shows up, plus singing and music jams galore. Good food, comfortable cabins, many brand new in the last 3 years. Great for families. Register by Oct 18 for the best price, registration closes Dec 9!

Palo Alto New Year's Eve Contra

Finish out 2016 with good cheer and good dancing at the Palo Alto Contra. Ring out the old year and waltz in the new to the music of StringFire (Erik Ievins, Patti Cobb, and Shira Kammen). Calling by Andy Shore. Happy New Year!

Peninsula Family Dance kickoff

Come join dancers of all ages in joyful movement to live music at our kickoff Peninsula Family Dance in the Belmont Good Shepherd Parish hall.

Contra College

Contra College is an urban weekend in downtown Palo Alto, CA, focused on teaching Contra dance to new and intermediate dancers, and where experienced dancers can improve their skills, help newer dancers, or practice the other gender role.

Friday Night Waltz presents this mashup of contras and couple dances. Introductions to one-step, waltz, polka, and contra taught 7-9pm in two halls by Richard Powers, Nick & Melissa Enge, Susan Petrick. Then from 9 to midnight The Hillbillies from Mars play for contras (called by Susan) alternating with pairs of couple dances. Performance by Jubilee American Dance Theatre at 10:30.

Registration opens in early January. Postmark deadline to be in the lottery is March 17.
