PlayFood: Snickerdoodles
"Cookies All Awry"
from Betty Crocker's Cookbook, "Snickerdoodles"
½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Heat oven to 400°F. Thoroughly mix butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups of sugar and the eggs. Blend in flour,
cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Shape dough into approximately 1" balls. Mix the rest of the sugar
and the cinnamon; roll balls in mixture. (It always takes more sugar & cinnamon than it says-at least for
us.) Place on un-greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking
sheet. Finished cookies should be about 2" in diameter.
