PlayFood: Cucumber Sandwiches
"Cukes of Kent"
Pullman loaves of white bread, thin sliced in the regular direction.
(Your local bakery can get and slice these;
They work best because the loaf is square and firm).
- or -
Small square loaves of pumpernickle bread.
Unsalted butter
Cucumbers, thinly sliced
Spread 2 slices of bread with butter.
Layer one slice of bread with cucumber slices, and cover with the second slice.
Cut sandwich twice diagonally to make 4 little sandwiches.
Note: These should be assembled the day of the ball.
