Prologue:

Welcome to the 2002 Playford Ball.  Our theme is reflected in several dances.  Puck's Deceit, written by some West Coast dancers, bring the mischief of Puck into the program.  Hole in the Wall is reminiscent of the Wall character in the play, and Hey Boys (formally Cuckolds all a Row) reflects the changing around of couples.

The program brings back some of the dances enjoyed in the past.   We have selected several other dances that are commonly done, but never been on a ball program.

Dances at the Ball will be talked through before the music starts, and you can walk through the dance if your set chooses to.  Once the music begins the dances will not be called.  It will help if you can attend the review session the night before the Ball, and the East Bay or Peninsula workshops.  Out-of-towners ask your local dance leader to schedule dances which you would like to try.

Dress nicely for the Ball.  Some will wear formal attire or period costume.  Some will be less formal, or incorporate the theme into their costuming.  Be sure to wear shoes which allow comfortable dancing throughout the evening.

Please do not book ahead.  Take your partner to the side of the hall, socialize a moment or two, and when the next dance is announced, bring your new partner onto the floor.  Take this opportunity to dance with people who don't usually go to your dance group.

Above all else, plan on having an enjoyable evening.  You can extend the enjoyment by participating in the After-party and the Sunday morning Brunch.   You'll find details at the end of your dance booklet.

Bob Fraley, Manager of Mirth

In our dance we share the woods with the fairies and magic folk.  Here are a few spells to help keep you safe:
