It's a second Wednesday, and that means English dancing in Berkeley at GNC. Lise Dyckman teaching, Charlie Hancock, David Newitt and Avis Minger provide the mellifluous music.
Friday, September 10
A rip-roaring contra at the fascinating Finn Hall (FIN). Series host Kirston Koths calls, with music by the The Contrabandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson)

Saturday, September 11
East meets Northeast? At the contra at PA, Eric Black--who spends most of his time in Tokyo--calls, and the superb sextet of "QC" serve up Franco-Canadian medleys.
The San Francisco English dance, at "BMC" in the City's Noe Valley district, begins at 7:30, and features Lise Dyckman calling, with music by David Strong, Jon Berger, and Craig Johnson. Take transit if you can--parking is tight, but the series is wo th it!
Sunday, September 12
[9/8] FAMILY. It's back-to-back dances at ECV, starting with a family dance from 4pm to 5:30pm, featuring Erik Hoffman calling, and music by Kathrine Gardner, David Brown and Craig Johnson. Followed by a potluck dinner...
& ...then the same foursome start up again at 7pm for our regular and wonderful El Cerrito Square/Contra series.
Wednesday, September 15
The San José English dance returns to SJS after its estivation, with season opening party featuring Jody McGeen and friends calling, with music by the redoubtable Greenwich Mean Time (Vaughn Wolff, Kay Thorne, Stanley and Susan Kramer).
And at GNC, where there's dancing every Wednesday night, the third Wednesday contra features Erik Hoffman calling, with and Open Band lead by Three O'Clock Shadow (Erik Hoffman, Chris Grampp and Adam Cavan).

BACDS sponsors three dances this evening--this one's a contra in Fairfax at FCC. Series host Stuart Moody leads the dance, with music by the trio of John Pedersen, Chuck Wiley, and Donley Smith.
The Berkeley experienced English Dance at GNC features Bruce Hamilton calling and tunes by the trio of Laurie Edelman, Judy Linsenberg and Charlie Hancock.
Finally, the Palo Alto contra takes place at PA, with Andy Wilson calling, and music by Luceo (Lee Anne Welch, John Light, and Rebecca King).
Sunday, September 26
& Square and contra dance in El Cerrito at ECV at 7pm. The versatile David Newitt teaches, along with an Open Band lead by Charlie Hancock, Bobbi Nikles and John Light.
Wednesday, September 29
Fifth Wednesday English?!? Yes, in San José at SJS, as Jody McGeen and this year's Playford Ball master Alan Winston lead the dance, with music, as usual, in the capable hands of Greenwich Mean Time (Vaughn Wolff, Kay Thorne, Stanley and Susan Kramer).
