The month leads off with a contra at NGC. Jim Saxe calls with music by an Open Band led by Craig Johnson and Erik Hoffman.

The Palo Alto English dance at MT, with Bob Fraley and music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer) .

Saturday, September 5
The San Francisco contra at SF--Andy Wilson calls, with music by Ray Bierl, Rebecca King and Deirdre Lynds.

Wednesday, September 9
Berkeley English dance at NGC. David Newitt calls with tunes provided by David Strong, Judy Linsenberg and David Strong.

Friday, September 11
Contra in Berkeley at FIN with Kirston Koths to the rollicking tunes of those The Contrabandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson) .

Saturday, September 12
The Palo Alto contra at PA has Eric Black calling to the music of the The Guppies (Kathrine Gardner, Jim Oakden and Craig Johnson).

Second Saturday SF English at BET; Lise Dyckman calls with music by David Strong, Anise Feldman and Mark Carroll.

Sunday, September 13
East Bay Square/contra at 7pm at ECV. Jim Saxe, series host, calls with music by the Post-Industrial String Band (Leslie Mink, Kenny Davis, and Ken Cawley).

Wednesday, September 16
Berkeley contra at NGC. Series meister Erik Hoffman calls to an Open Band led by Lee Anne Welch and Rebecca King.

The San José English dance at SJS returns at last from its summer break, as host Jody McGeen and friends call to the music of Greenwich Mean Time (Kay Thorne, Vaughn Wolff and Stanley Kramer).

Friday, September 18
The Palo Alto English dance at MT: Bob Fraley calling to the delightful music of Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer) .

Saturday, September 19
The San Francisco Contra at, well, SF: Charlie Fenton calls to the music of the The Contrabandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson) .

Wednesday, September 23
English country dance in Berkeley at GNC. Lise Dyckman teaches all you need to know, with wonderful music by Chuck Ward, Mark Carroll and friends.

Friday, September 25
Fourth Friday contra at SF, featuring Charlie Fenton and the talented trio of Rebecca King, Paul Kotapish and Lee Anne Welch.

Saturday, September 26
The Palo Alto contra at PA. Charlie Fenton calls to the Bay Area's own Hillbillies From Mars (Ray Bierl, Kevin Carr, Paul Kotapish, & Daniel Steinberg).

In Fairfax, at FCC, Ken Olcott calls to the music of John Pedersen and friends.

The fourth Saturday experienced English dance at GNC features the amazing Bruce Hamilton leading dances to the music of that cheap-to-feed band The Guppies (Kathrine Gardner, Jim Oakden and Craig Johnson). The color is Green.

Sunday, September 27
The Square/Contra at ECV starts at 7pm and features Ken Miller calling, with music by an Open Band led by Robin Flower and Libby McLaren.

Wednesday, September 30
Get your Irish up with an Open Band contra at NGC. Erik Hoffman is caller and the band will be led by Chris Knepper, Jack Gilder and Kyle Thayer.

The San José English dance at SJS on a 5th Wednesday--Jody McGeen and Alan Winston call, mellifluous tunes by Greenwich Mean Time (Kay Thorne, Vaughn Wolff and Stanley Kramer).

General Notes

BACDS currently holds about twenty dances a month, with series on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. All dances start at 8pm unless otherwise indicated.
Admission (unless otherwise noted): Wednesday dances, $6; Weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) dances, $7. There's a $1 discount for BACDS and CDSS or CDS-affiliate members (that includes Santa Cruz/Monterey Country Dancers and the North Bay Country Dancers), with valid membership card.
A free beginners' orientation session is offered at 7:30pm for all Friday and Saturday contradances and for the Wednesday Berkeley English dances. We'll strive to keep this list current; just in case, BACDS phone hotlines are at (415) 282-7374 (San Francisco) and (650) 965-9169 (South Bay)
