English country on Veterans' Day--the Berkeley English dance at GNC, with David Newitt and Alan Winston calling, and music by Judy Linsenberg, David Strong and Craig Johnson.

If it's Friday the 13th, it has to be a Berkeley contra--this one with Kirston Koths and music by the fabulous The Contrabandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson)

In Palo Alto, the 2nd Saturday dance at PA with Kimberly McKittrick calling, and music by the trio of Kevin Carr, Lee Anne Welch and Rebecca King...

BACDS' 3rd Annual Fall Ball starts off at SMM with a practice of the evening's dances, 2:30 to 5:30pm, with David Newitt calling and Ruth Anne Fraley and friend.$18 at door/$15 advance covers practice and the evening dance. Then...
"Ask not for Hume the dance calls..." The Fall Ball, featuring the dances of Colin Hume (and other favorites). Bob Fraley leads the dances, with music by Charlie Hancock, Jim Oakden, Stan Kramer and Danny Carnahan. $18 at door.
For contradance diehards, BACDS also offers the regular San Francisco contra at SF, with Erik Hoffman calling to the music of Québecquasi (Kevin Carr, John Hamstra, Caroline Cirimele, Barbara Mendelsohn, Laurie Rivin, Daniel Steinberg).
