Caller, choreographer, and long time BACDS organizer Alan Winston is turning 66 this year and has decided to sponsor a ball featuring dances he's written to tunes by people like Larry Unger, Debbie Jackson, Patti Cobb, Carolan, and Traditional. Since this is an arrant exercise of ego, admission is free. Not all the dances are completely familiar, so I'll provide an opportunity to review the program, at the Palo Alto English Regency dance on November 8th (admission $10, to reimburse BAERS for the rent). BACDS has been kind enough to adopt the event as a BACDS event and provide insurance and publicity; it's Alan's pleasure to provide the band, hall, and cake - and you're very welcome to bring other refreshments to share - and have everyone who comes as his guest.
The dances will be in modern English style, mostly at an intermediate level with some more challenging ones. Helps to know how to do heys for three, dolphin heys, circular heys, rights and lefts. Lise's calling and mine will be positional.
We will start dancing at 7:00, break for cake and treats around 8:45, dance until 10:30 or 11:00 at the latest, depending on stamina. Now that the program is solidified, the dance list and notes are here. If you have questions, please write to awinstondance@gmail.com
