Hey Days Site and Food
Location
Sonoma State University (SSU) is in the wine country of northern California, one hour north of San Francisco and 45 minutes from the Pacific Ocean. Adjacent to Rohnert Park and Cotati, SSU is ranked as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. The campus has a pond with a path around it as well as several other water features, parkland, many trees and gardens (including a butterfly garden and a native plant area). There is an outdoor swimming pool with a hot tub near our housing, as well as an indoor lap pool and hot tub in the student rec center.
For an interactive map of campus, click here. Or check out the PDF map of campus.
The small campus offers spacious dance rooms with wood floors and numerous workshop spaces.
The larger dance spaces and abundant housing mean more of you can come join the fun!
Housing
Campus housing is equitable and comfortable. We will stay in the Sauvignon Village complex -- see the PDF map.
Housing is in suites with four bedrooms of a double (i.e. two single beds in one room), two singles, and a triple (one bunk bed and one single raised bed) for a total of five to six people per suite. Most triple rooms will be used for singles or shared for two people traveling together, however, three people may share a room if they so wish. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Each suite includes a living room, dining area, kitchenette, and patio/balcony. Check out the floor plan. Some suites are ADA compliant
Linens, towels and blankets are provided. There is a 24 hour service desk in the complex, with a handy place to phone if anything is amiss. There is a laundry room in the complex. While the rooms aren’t air conditioned, it cools off in the evening so room temperatures will be comfortable.
The Cooperage, in this area of Sauvignon Village, will be our exclusive and secure program space, containing the bookstore, silent and noisy auction, and a place to gather with a piano.
Food
The dining area is a food court, with areas for different types of food so we will have choice and variety. Within the dining area, there is an “allergy free” place, and SSU can provide any kind of special diet we might need. Some of the food is sourced locally.
Because there are multiple stations you won’t have one long line to get your food. You will get a printed menu so, once you know where all the stations are, you can choose in advance where to go.
There are water filling stations around campus. Outside of the regular dining area, there are several cafes as well as other places to buy snacks.
Fragrance-free policy
A significant number of campers suffer from heightened sensitivity to solvents and petroleum products, including perfume and fragrance. To deal with this serious health issue we have a fragrance-free policy, so that we can open the dance floor to everyone. We provide fragrance-free soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion for all participants to use. The fragrance-free policy gives details on fragrance-free personal items you may want to bring with you.
