She calls regularly in the Boston and New England areas and has been a staff member at dance camps and festivals throughout the country and beyond. She teaches cool contras and hot squares in her clear, fun-loving, and witty way. Her insightful style points will lead you to a new level of dance ecstasy.
Cis exudes so much joy when she calls dances that you can’t help but be swept along. For almost 20 years she has been charming dancers with her energetic contras and fast-moving western-style squares, calling at camps and festivals across the U.S. as well as in England and Denmark. If you can’t have fun when Cis is calling, you’d better check yourself for a pulse!
Ira is regarded as one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of percussive tap, clog, and step dancing in America. In a very literal sense, Ira is a drummer – his feet are the sticks and the floor is the drum – which is why he refers to his art as “Ten Toe Percussion.”
Jon will lead us into the world of group singing, as we explore both traditional and more modern folk songs. Jon is also known for the high-energy fiddling he contributes to the contra dance band, Flashpoint.
Sam has played traditional Irish and American music on the banjo, guitar, and mandolin for over 25 years. His innovative approach to traditional music can be heard as he plays in such well-known contra bands as the Reckless Ramblers, the Sevens, the Monks, Uncle Gizmo, the Clayfoot Strutters, and Wild Asparagus. Angela is a storyteller with a rich background in the performing arts. She is a matchmaker of word and music, combining an eclectic listener's ear, a penchant for rhythm, and a longing for harmony. She celebrates the human experience with poetry, story, and song.
