Wednesday, May 1
May Morning Morris--Support your local Morris team as they dance the sun up. BACDS teams will be up and dancing at the crack of dawn in Palo Alto Baylands Preserve (Mayfield Morris and Sword, Mad Molly, Deer Creek Morris Men, starting at 5:15am), Berkeley at Inspiration Point in Tilden Park (Berkeley Morris, starting at 5:45am), Lighthouse Point in Santa Cruz (Seabright Morris and Sword) and San Francisco (Goat Hill Morris). Check back here for more information!

Missed the morning Morris call? Well, you can end your day with traditional English dance, as well, at FLX in Mountain View. Join caller Danny Walkowitz (visiting from New York City), with music by local heroes Stan Kramer & Bill Jensen.

In Berkeley, at GNC Wednesday contra series host Erik Hoffman calls with music by an Open Band led by John Pedersen, Michael Drayton, & Perry Fly

Friday, May 3
The first Friday? It's English country dance in downtown Palo Alto at MT as Danny Walkowitz teaches, with tunes by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka)

Saturday, May 4
The San Francisco contra, at SF, naturally. Charlie Fenton calls, with music by the Hillbillies from Mars (Ray Bierl, Paul Kotapish, & Daniel Steinberg)

Sunday, May 5
CEILIDH English ceilidh, that is, starting at 7pm at GNC in Berkeley. Check out this vigourous dance--Britain's answer to contradancing. Jonathan Coxhead is your caller for the evening, with music by that redoubtable group The Toasted Cheese Band (Jason Adajian, Jude Darnell, Jay Doane, Kevin Fanning, Kevin Hughes, & Larry Klein)

Wednesday, May 8
Every Wednesday there's dancing in Berkeley at GNC, and tonight it's English country, with David Newitt calling to the music of three innovative musicians: Laurie Chastain, Robert Hill, and Charlie Hancock.

Friday, May 10
The second Friday Berkeley contra at FIN, with series host Kirston Koths calling to the jumping music of Swing Farm (Ray Bierl, Charlie Hancock & Steven Strauss).

Saturday, May 11
Palo Alto contra at PA--Monterey caller Warren Blier makes a guest appearance, with music by The KJammers (Kathrine Gardner, Dan Kluger, Mark Kartman).

The San Francisco English dance starts at 7:30 at BET. Lydee Scudder calls, with music by Stan & Susan Kramer and Mark Carroll.

Sunday, May 12
& Square 'em up/Line up for a contra at ECV. It's BACDS' square/contra series, which starts at 7pm and tonight features Jim Saxe calling with tunes by The Barnburners (Stephanie Prausnitz, Evie Ladin, Dan Warrick)

Wednesday, May 15
The Berkeley contra at GNC, with Erik Hoffman calling to an Open Band led by Rex Blazer (Juneau AK) & Seth Houston (Brattleboro VT)

Third Wednesday Peninsula English Dance in Mountain View at FLX. Jody McGeen & Alan Winston split the calling, Stan Kramer & Bill Jensen share the playing.

Friday, May 17
At the Palo Alto English dance at MT, Alan Winston calls to the music of Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka)

Saturday, May 18
At the San Francisco contra, at SF, series host Charlie Fenton calls to the mighty duo of Rex Blazer (Juneau AK) & Seth Houston (Brattleboro VT).

Wednesday, May 22
The Berkeley English dance at GNC features Alan Winston teaching and calling the dances, with music by an "OD" led by David Strong, Judy Linsenberg, and Craig Johnson.

Friday, May 24
The fourth Friday San Francisco contra at SF has Andy Wilson calling, with music by Swing Farm (Ray Bierl, Charlie Hancock & Steven Strauss),

Saturday, May 25
The monthly experienced English dance at GNC. Series host Lise Dyckman leads the dance, Bill Jensen, Stan & Susan Kramer are your band for the evening.

Palo Alto contra at PA with Eric Black calling to the distinctive bluegrass tunes of The Earls (Ray Bierl, Larry Cohea, Alan Senauke, & Steven Strauss)

Fifth Wednesdays in Berkeley (at GNC) are always open band and open callers' night. Erik Hoffman will coordinate the callers, contact him at (510) 444-4397, erikthor@pobox.com to get a spot at the mike or attend a callers' workshop beforehand. The Open Band will be led by Erik and Chris Knepper
