It's (just barely) a first Friday, so there must be English dancing at Palo Alto's MT. Bob Fraley calls, with music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka)

Hot times in the south of Palo Alto (at PA) as the contra features caller and series host Eric Black, with music by The Contra Bandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson)

This dance starts at 7:30, and there's always a pre-dance gathering at a local restaurant at 6pm (besides a good meal and camaraderie, it's much easier to park then). Before you get too carried away by the holidays, come on out to the monthly Friday Berkeley contra at FIN. Your series host Kirston Koths calls, with music by Hillbillies From Mars (Ray Bierl, Kevin Carr, Paul Kotapish, & Daniel Steinberg), in their only BACDS appearance this quarter. Don't miss 'em.

The third Saturday San Francisco contra at SF has Charlie Fenton calling, with music by a new grouping of some talented North Bay favorites: Flashpoint (Jon Berger, Howard Booster, and Rebecca King).
Wednesday, December 19
Every Wednesday there's dancing at GNC in Berkeley, this evening it's Erik Hoffman calling contras. Great music by an Open Band led by Lee Anne Welch, Karl Franz, and Rebecca King.
Friday, December 21
The Palo Alto English dance at MT, with a trio of great callers: Alan Winston, Lise Dyckman, Bob Fraley, and music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka)

12/21A New Year's Eve English Country Dance will be held at St Mark's Episcopal Church, 600 Colorado Avenue, Palo Alto from 8 to 11pm, and features Bob Fraley and Alan Winston calling with music by Stan Kramer, Bill Jensen, Karen Wetmore-Grycewicz, Mark Daly, and Craig Martin. Though this is definitely the last BACDS event for 2001, an afterparty at the organizers' home should carry the evening comfortably into 2002. Admission: $10/$8 with BACDS card or CDSS-affiliate membership card. Here are the driving directions to the hall.
