BET--Bethany United Methodist Church, 1268 Sanchez (at Clipper), San Francisco. 2nd Saturday English dance, 7:30pm.
ECV--El Cerrito Veterans' Hall, 6401 Stockton at Kearney, El Cerrito. 2nd and 4th Sundays East Bay Square/Contra dance, 7pm
FCC--Fairfax Community Church, 2398 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Fairfax. 4th Saturday contradances
FIN--Finn Hall, 1819 Tenth Street (near Hearst, off University), Berkeley. 2nd Friday contradances

Wednesday, April 4
Kick off the month with a contra at GNC. Elizabeth Douglas is calling, with Open Band led by the intriguing trio of Chris Knepper, Paul Kotapish, & Erik Hoffman.

Friday, April 6
It's a first Friday, so there will be an English country dance at MT in downtown Palo Alto. Series host Bob Fraley teaches you all you need to know, music is by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka) .

Saturday, April 7
Whenever you're in the upper right corner of the month, you can always count on the San Francisco contra, at SF. Pillar of the contra community Charlie Fenton calls, with foursquare accompaniment by The Guppies (Kathrine Gardner, Jim Oakden and Craig Johnson) (unless it's jig time, of course).

Sunday, April 8
& Squares and contras are the order of the evening at ECV in El Cerrito. Series host Jim Saxe calls, with the wonderful Southern stringband sounds of Earl White, Maxine Gerber & Dan Warrick.

Wednesday, April 11
Every Wednesday, there's community dancing at GNC in Berkeley. Tonight it's English country, with David Newitt a' calling and David Strong, Shira Kammen, Charlie Hancock a' playing. Wow!

Friday, April 13
Can you say "triskaidekaphobia"? Good, I knew you could. Now, can you dance it? Come find out at FIN where Kirston Koths is calling at the second Friday Berkeley contra. Music by the amazing duo Stump Tail Dog (Dan Engle & Ray Frank).

Saturday, April 14
Another fine Palo Alto contra on tap at PA, with Andy Wilson calling and tunes provided by The Contra Bandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson) .

... or come to the San Francisco English dance at BET. Cathleen Myers, famed for leading the dance at the PEERS series, makes a special appearance, with music provided by Robert Hill, Craig Johnson, & Stanley Kramer. Dance starts at 7:30, we've been meeting at 6 at a local restaurant for dinner beforehand (come early for the added camaraderie and easier parking!). Call 415/821-1265 for more information.

Wednesday, April 18
Berkeley contra at GNC. Series host Erik Hoffman calls to the music of The Nettles (Laura Brophy, Colleen Dick, Kevin Johnsrude, & Sid Cottrell), hailing from from Corvallis, Oregon. No open band tonight, come on and dance!

Friday, April 20
Palo Alto English dance at MT, with Bob Fraley calling and music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka) .

Saturday, April 21
Third Saturday contra at SF out in San Francisco's Sunset District. Tom Roby is your caller, with music by The Nettles (Laura Brophy, Colleen Dick, Kevin Johnsrude, & Sid Cottrell).

Sunday, April 22
& The fourth Sunday square and contra dance at ECV hosts Kirston Koths, calling, with music served up by an Open Band led by Bobbi Nikles, Charlie Hancock, & Kyle Thayer

Wednesday, April 25
English dance caller extraordinaire (and BACDS Board Chair) Alan Winston makes a rare East Bay appearance at the Berkely English dance at GNC. Music by an Open Band lead by Chuck Ward, Danny Carnahan, & Avis Minger.

Friday, April 27
The San Francisco contra at SF (naturally) features Charlie Fenton calling with music by a brand new band: Rarin' to Go (Ray Frank, Art Peterson, & Kerry Parker)

Saturday, April 28
The fourth Saturday Berkeley English country dance for experienced dancers takes place at GNC and features series host Lise Dyckman with music provided by Bill Jensen, Avis Minger, & Paul Kostka

...And if you have a hankering to contradance, the Palo Alto dance at PA features Eric Black (welcome back!) with infectious Irish tunes provided by Tipsy House (Jack Gilder, Chris Knepper and Junji Shirota).
