The first Wednesday Berkeley contra at GNC, with series host Erik Hoffman and music by an Open Band led by Chris Knepper, Radim Zenkel, and Richard Mandel
A special appearance of an old friend from Colorado as Alisa Dodson calls the San José English dance at SJS. Music will be supplied by Stan Kramer and Bill Jensen.
Friday, April 7
First Friday English dance in downtown Palo Alto at MT. Series host Bob Fraley is your caller for the evening, with music by Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Susan and Stanley Kramer, Mark Daly and Paul Kostka)

Saturday, April 8
In the restaurant-rich and parking-poor Noe Valley district of San Francisco (take transit!) the English country dance at BET features Lise Dyckman calling with music by Charlie Hancock and Susan and Stanley Kramer.
...While down in Palo Alto at PA the 2nd Saturday contra features renowned Southern California caller Susan Michaels with the renowned local Southern band Suzy's Floozies (Suzy Thompson, Maxine Gerber, & Kate Brislin). As always for weekend contras, beginners' orientation at 7:30, for those who will.
Sunday, April 9
& At the El Cerrito Square/Contra at ECV (starting time of 7pm!) Susan Michaels appears with the superb duo Stump Tail Dog (Dan Engle & Ray Frank).
Wednesday, April 12
It's Wednesday night, so there's dancing at GNC. Tonight, it's an English countrydance, with series host David Newitt calling and joining in on concertina. You can bring an instrument and join in, too: it's an Open Band led by Charlie Hancock (piano), Judy Linsenberg (recorder), and Avis Minger (violin).

It's--just barely--a second Friday, so come to the Berkeley contra at FIN. Kirston Koths calls to a new band on the block: The Loud Neighbors (Ray Bierl, Freyda Epstein, Stefan Curl, Alan Senauke).
Saturday, April 15
A not-too taxing (and completely enjoyable!) San Francisco contra at SF. Wonderful caller Donna Howell (from Taxes, uh, Texas) joins local heroes The Contra Bandits (Kathrine Gardner, Chris Knepper, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson)
Wednesday, April 19
English country dancing at San José at SJS. That stalwart duo Jody McGeen & Alan Winston call the dances, with Stan Kramer and Ruth Anne Fraley providing the tunes.
Up in Berkeley, at GNC, Lise Dyckman leads contradancing. Music by a Open Band led by that wonderful string band dotGals (Susan Sullivan, Dan & Karen Warrick, and Adam Cavan).

Friday contra at SF. Series host Charlie Fenton joins forces with musicians Charlie Hancock, John Light, and Kevin Carr.
Saturday, April 29
Rounding out the month, there's a fifth Saturday contra at PA. Jim Saxe calls, great French Canadian tunes by the wonderful sextet Québecquasi (Kevin Carr, John Hamstra, Caroline Cirimele, Barbara Mendelsohn, Laurie Rivin, Daniel Steinberg).
