She's a CDSS Board member, a dance composer, and a lot of fun. Alisa started her country dance career in the Bay Area, where she has been an English dance caller, foreman of Mayfield Morris & Sword, co-programmed Fall Weekend in 1996 and 1997 and programmed English Week in 1997 and 1998. Now based in Boulder, Colorado, Alisa has been tapped by CDSS to program the Buffalo Gap Dance Week. She's a warm, friendly, and musical teacher, and we're lucky to have her back for a visit. </blockquote> <BR> <A HREF="#Top">Back to Top</A> <BR> <BR> <A NAME="Nan"> <CENTER><B>Nan Evans</B></CENTER> <blockquote> Nan's cozy, lucid teaching style and excellent choice of new and old dances have helped make the Portland English Ball one of the most popular on the West Coast. She knows how to choose and call contras, too, and has done so at the "Lady of the Lake" camp. </blockquote> <BR> <A HREF="#Top">Back to Top</A> <BR> <BR> <A NAME="Jocelyn"> <CENTER><B>Jocelyn Reynolds</B></CENTER> <blockquote> Jocelyn is Fore of Goat Hill Morris, and has danced with Berkeley, Mayfield, and Lemon & Capers in Boston. An editor of the American Morris Newsletter, she is one of the very few people to have done graduate work in morris dance. As such, she's particularly well-suited to teach the styling of different Cotswold traditions, and to offer her 'Spotter's Guide to Ritual Dance', which enables you to identify different kinds of dance traditions. Jocelyn co-programmed Fall Weekend in 1996 and 1997, and will be programming Mendocino English Week in 2001. <P> Jocelyn was unfortunately felled by flu and was unable to attend camp. Her classes were taken over by Bob Fraley (longsword), Alisa Dodson and Kalia Kliban (morris); we hope to have her spotter's guide at a future Fall Weekend. </blockquote> <BR> <A HREF="#Top">Back to Top</A> <BR> <BR> <BR> <A NAME="Amy"> <CENTER><B>Amy Sandeen</B></CENTER> <blockquote> Amy is a teacher, artist, and performer who has danced with the Wild Goose Chase Cloggers for four years. She teaches Appalachian clogging and body rhythm techniques with style, patience, and energy, and has done so at festivals in Sweden, Massachussetts, Kentucky, and across the Midwest. </blockquote> <BR> <A HREF="#Top">Back to Top</A> <BR> <A NAME="Bob"> <CENTER><B>Bob Fraley</B></CENTER> <blockquote> Bob Fraley is best-known in BACDS as the long-time caller of the Palo Alto English dance, but he has a national reputation as a leader of Scandinavian couple-dancing, and we'll see that side of his talents this weekend, in partnership with the Scandi music skills of Pig's Eye Landing. </blockquote> <BR> <A HREF="#Top">Back to Top</A> <BR> <BR> <A NAME="Allen"> <CENTER><B>Allen Dodson</B></CENTER> <blockquote> Allen, who has played for such teams as Ann Arbor Morris and Mayfield Morris & Sword, gets more lift and drive out of a melodeon than many experienced players might think possible. Now he'll use his voice as well. She has a degree in music from UC Berkeley. She is a member of Ensembles Alcatraz, Project Ars Nova, and Medieval Strings. She has performed and taught around the US and the world, and is at home in many musical genres, including English and Breton.   </blockquote> <BR> <A HREF="#Top">Back to Top</A> <BR> <BR> <A NAME="Jon"> <CENTER><B>Jon Berger</B></CENTER> <blockquote> Jon's fiddle and melodeon have propelled a lot of dancing in the Bay Area. A longtime musician for Berkeley Morris (and now for Apple Tree), he's played for English country dancing both for BACDS and for the Renaissance Faire, done a stint in the Celtic rock band Tempest, and sung with Cyderman's Fancy. His wicked sense of humor has made him a familiar name on the Internet Morris Dance Discussion List. Jim has been a staff musician at many West Coast camps including Fall Weekend, both by himself and as part of the GUPpies, and is currently active as a musician for English country dances, contras, Irish and Cape Breton sessions and dances from Brittany&nbsp . Offsite admission is $140. Click <A HREF="lodging.htmlx">here</A> for a discussion of the lodging choices. </P> <P>Work-trade arrangements provide a $60 discount for doing some chores to make the camp run more smoothly. </P> <P>Children are welcome, and some of the workshops (shown on the tentative schedule) will be designed for all ages, although children under twelve must have their parents with them in the workshop. Other workshops and evening dances will only be suitable for children who can dance at an adult level; some other activities will be available at this time. Parents are responsible for their children throughout the weekend. A parents' cooperative will be organized so that everybody gets time to dance. You're on your own for dinner Friday; there are many excellent restaurants in Santa Cruz and some good places in Aptos. The welcome dance party begins at 8:00 pm. Food and dorm-style lodging are provided, along with all kinds of country dance and singing fun, until the farewell dance party ends at 4:30 pm Sunday.
