BACDS sponsors English and American traditional dances in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is fun, relatively easy, community-oriented dancing with live music. All dances are taught, no partner is necessary, and first-timers are welcome unless otherwise noted.

Sign up for Balance the Bay, August 14-16, 2009

Join us for the second annual Balance the Bay dance weekend, this time in the cool of summer in San Francisco, featuring Adina Gordon and Joyce Miller calling to the music of Crowfoot and Swing Farm, and couple dancing with Richard Powers.  Sign up now while space is available.


Fall Frolick, October 16-18, 2009

Fall Frolic is BACDS' all-English dance weekend to provide dancers, callers, and musicians to explore the extraordinary range of English country and display (morris) dance with wonderful teachers and splendid musicians in a glorious setting.  This year's classes will be led by Bruce Hamilton, GaryRoodman, Judy Erickson, Laura Me Smith, Sharon Green, and David Roodman, with singing led by Doug Olsen of Oak Ash and Thorn.

The flyer includes the form for the first-come first-served registration (with some preference for BACDS members), so sign up soon.


Save the date for Fall Ball, November 21, 2009

Come for a splendiferous day and night of English country dance with the caller who started the Fall Ball, David Newitt. Workshop 2:00-5:00 pm, Singing at 7:30, dance at 8:00 all in the San Mateo Masonic Lodge.  Dance followed by a scrumptious pot-luck.

Have you heard about the new BACDS Spring Dance Weekend?  With parallel all-American and all-English dance tracks, you can do one or the other or mix it up at your choice.  We'll also be focusing on real workshops about style, technique, and those little flourishes to delight newcomer and experience dancers alike.  Check out the flyer, go to the website, and sign-up for the discussion list to help say what YOU want at camp.
